XW4 - 04/08/2011

A few overhead photos of XW4 last week.

Former NQFF, converted to an NCFF with two welded coil cradles.

An RKDF loaded with 12 copper bundles.

An RKFX with a tightly packed load of structural steel.

RKQY 2879 with a rebuilt end - probably after the big derailment at Spencer Jct.

An RKLY with loaded scrap steel containers.

A favourite of mine - VOFX 426 with green sides and a black logo board, loaded with 12 copper bundles.

Enjoy!

POST 300 - SSR to Charbon

As promised - an exclusive photo for the Blog.

Today SSR ran Unit Train 80 to Charbon - the first time SSR has been to Charbon Colliery.

Here is an exclusive photo of C502/G514/C503 emerging from the loading tunning, with Church Mountain in the background.

NP3 01/08/11

Some interesting loads on NP3 last Monday.  These photos were taken at Moss Vale.  If on the earlier path, NP3/NY3 is often put away for the Down Canberra Pass to overtake.

A load of short pipes in an RKWY.

Just like the Auscision model, RCSF 54 withthe yellow bottom and old orange top rail.

The load in RCSF 54 comprised of 4 coils - one was checker plate.

Rail Pair RKAF 5 (coupled to RKAF 6 out of picture on the left)

The draw bar in RKAF 5.

An RKCX (Maybe 1173F) with an XGB bogie.

Close up of the XGB bogie.  Also note how the tarp is secured.

Round Merchant Bar loaded into RKDF 20524.  Often Merchant Bar is loaded into tarped open wagons.

Structural steel load on an RKOX.

So far I've really enjoyed Blogging, and I'm glad I got into it.  I see the main advantages being; it's free, it's quick to post, the format is nice, and I (and you) can easily search all most posted photos by a wagon code or key word.

XW4 - 30/07/2011

A few shots of XW4 from 30/07/2011 at Aylmerton.

 NR8/NR85/AN8 on XW4.

Side door containers on NQOY 14914.  NQOY wagons are becoming more common on PN Intermodal/Steelink jobs.

RQMF 4305 - now an 80km/h runner, with 110km/h stencilled - probably from when it was an AQSY or similar!

A favourite of mine - Now looking like more of a rainbow with the PN stripe on the side sill.  V/Line painted out with FA green, a light blue databoard, and a PN yellow safety stripe.  This will make a very nice model!

Enjoy!

Friday Mish Mash 29/07

A few shots of various wagons and containers on PS6 and BM4 from Friday 29/07

Interesting combo on BM4 - NR/NR/AN at Mittagong.

PS6 Combo at Aylmerton.

 An ISHU 'Bears' removalist container.

Not so common in the eastern states - Northline 45ft container.

The usual vans on PS6 - RLSY 18667 in SRA red.

A faded RLUY 18724, sans signboard.

First series KLV, now RLSY 18645.

A pretty old Brambles 40ft reefer on an unidentified RQCY.

Another common wester container on RQFY 73.

A K&S timber load on RRKY 2691, sporting original CR logos on the sidesill.

An RRYY with all Toll Cartainer.

Finally, a Total Logistics curtain sided container

A Day out with Thomas!

Took the kids to a Day Out With Thomas at Thirlmere Trainworks.  Below are some photos of the characters on the day and a few other bits and pieces in nice lighting.

Mudgee Line

A few photos from out west between Lithgow and Mudgee.

A train of NHFF/NHSH wagons is stabled at Charbon Colliery.  Church Mountain is in the background.

A 70t DCA primary and secondary sprung bogie under the NHSH/NHFF type hoppers.

A close up of the builders plates on the DCA bogie.

An EPT builder plate on an NHSH.

 The Greentrains logo on C506.

An old sign at Charbon.  A clearance sign for a train with 31 CHS hoppers.

New RKVY Tilt Beds

Noted on todays XW4 steel job was brand new RKVY 8004.  About 3 weeks back I noted a brand new 8001 on a PW4 service.

I believe there are 5 being built at UGL Bassendean.  These are probably from the order that PN placed quite a few years ago but the job was canned due to the GFC.

Unfortunately I filled up the SD card prior to 8001 going past, and in the case below, my camera had a auto focus malfunction and as such was delayed in taking the photo!  Anyway, I'm sure I'll see these again in the near future.

RKVY 8004 - Not my best shot, but a record none the less.

The motive power on the lead was a nice and grubby NR102, with a friendly Junee driver.

Enjoy!
