New Austrans Containers

Austrans have just taken delivery of a stack of brand new containers.  These are super bright in a redish-orange livery with a huge 'A' on the side.  The following is a bit of a run down of the new boxes:

AUSU 400000 Series.  Seems to be around at least 300 of these.  They have the CS Leasing CPC logo in the corner to denote pallet wide, and the doors are the same as the SLZU 740000/750000 series.   Likely supplied by CS Leasing.

AUSU 423000 series appear to be fewer in number (maybe 5), but appear to be numbered by SCF containers.  These container are marked as 45G1, and have standard shipping container doors.  They are easy to pick with white highlighted corners and fork pockets.

Austrans have taken delivery of two types of reefers.  This series is number AUSU 460000 and reported by Austrans as being a fleet of 150.  So far, only low numbers have been sighted in traffic.  They have a carrier reefer unit and on the end doors carry the CS Leasing and Intermodal Solutions logos.  They are easily picked by their yellow 40ft posts.

Already posted here, Austrans also have a number of SCFU 823000 series reefers dual marked, as SCF and Austrans.  Potentially 20 or so, as the running numbers seen have all been between 823030 and 823048 (total 10 sighted).

Finally, Austrans have some 48ft containers also, which look great with the white 40ft posts.  These appear to be numbered by SCF, as they are 480000 series, but are in a strange block starting around 480180s and going to 480230s (or similar), so maybe 50 in this group and a number series that doesn't yet make sense.  The colours on the first shot are pretty bright and is one of the last shots I took with my Pentax before going across to Canon.

Enjoy!

Austrans SCFU Reefers

Last week new SCF reefers marked for Austrans appeared to be doing the shuffle from Brisbane to Melbourne.  Over 3 days, about 10 were sighted, with the number range 823030-823048, so most likely at least 20 or so in this block.

Here are a few photos of SCFU 823 series reefers.

Austrans have also taken delivery of 150 AUSU reefers which have started running to Perth.

Enjoy!

Straight Link Reefer

They arrived with no markings (see blog post here) but finally, some of the new TSHR 2200 series (2203 & 2207) has been logoed by Straight Link (formerly Toll Shipping).

Hopefully we will see more on the 40ft+ reefers stickered in the near future.

Enjoy!

Team Global Express Repaints

The next best thing to a new container is a repainted container, and Team Global Express (TGE) haven't disappointed.  I posted earlier this year about their new 40ft boxes (LINK HERE) and over the past week older Toll 48ft general boxes have started appearing with repainted sides and small logos.

Today was an interesting capture with a TDDS and a TCML box as part of the PS7 consist.  Interestingly the TCML box appeared in the correct TGE green with the logo at the door end and the TDDS box appeared in Toll teal with the logo at the non-door end.

The TCML and TDDS containers date back to a mid-2000 delivery (about 2004-2005 to be accurate) and carried the large Toll logo in yellow and orange.  There are a few photos in my blog which you can search in the top right corner.  Here is one from 2015.  Toll even managed to repaint at least one in 2019 with the darker green and white logo.

TCML 48520 in the correct TGE green.

TDDS 48633 in what appears to be the old Toll teal green colour.

Austrans Repaint

Imagine my surprise when this 20+ year old Seacell turned up freshly painted in Austrans Livery!  The sun was only just coming up, hence the gnarly shadows.

Here is AUSU 400423 repainted from lime green.

Here is a shot from about 15 years ago of 400425 in the original green.

Austrans have started to pump their branding with bright red trucks, new 2023 build containers, including new 40ft GPs, and 46'6 reefers.  Keep your eyes peeled.

Enjoy!

ARLS now LTCD - Lindsay Reefers

Recently in the news it was announced that Lindsay Transport has picked up a number of former Scott Refrigeration assets including rail containers.

While it is likely many haven't been rebranded, a number of newer ARLS 46'6 reefers have been fully rebranded and recoded into the standard Lindsay system.

Captured earlier this week is former ARLS 415 (one of 100 built) now LTCD 4615 03.  This follows the standard reefer numbering system for Lindsay with 46 for the length, 15 for the year build (click the link to see a new photo from 2015 of an ARLS container) and 03 for the number in the series.

Interestingly, back dating the number series the the year 15 doesn't clash with their existing fleet as their first new purchase of 46 reefers was in 2018, so their first container was 461801.

Keep an eye out for fresh looking 4615 series reefer - No yellow posts!

Enjoy!

Local Drone Shots

A few more drone shots from around my local area in the Southern Highlands.

Aurizon on a loaded coal train,

Late running MB4 with NR84 up front.

Empty stone train heading back to Marulan.

The tail end of a loaded coal train.  The TT wouldn't be a good candidate for a weathering job!

Toll Tilt Bed - Plate Steel Container

While these have been around in QLD for a little while now, they never seem to venture south of the border.

Anyway, earlier in the week I saw about 4 go passed my place on an BM4 service and of course I didn't have the camera ready so planned to be prepared for the next day.  Anyway, stuffed that up and saw another go passed my place so hopped in the car and raced into town for a shot (that I only managed to get due to restricted speed as a signal had failed).

Anyway, got my first shot.  This is TILT 4002 from Brisbane to Melbourne.  These were made by Doric Engineering in Tassie for Toll Intermodal.

Enjoy!

New SCF 46'6 Reefer

Came across this new SCF reefer in February.  It is a 46'6 reefer SCFU 823025, so is brand spanking new.

Based on sighting, this appears to be from a possible batch of 10, number 823021-823030.  Most have been running Melbourne-Perth but this one was headed Melbourne to Brisbane.

Enjoy!
