I'm a huge intermodal fan and your site is one of my favorites for intermodel transport in Australia. Thanks for your work.
ReplyDeleteWhich waggons are able to carry 10' container?
And are there any 8'6" in circulation or are all 10' high cube as I try to reproduce some as H0 model but both 10' (high cube) and 20' high cube is very much specific to Australia/New Zealand and models pretty hard to get…

Hi Matt,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind feedback.
On the east coast, the common maximum height container is 9'10" (3010mm) which will fit on most modern intermodal wagons. Anything taller requires a well-wagon or could fit onto a RRYY (Car-tainer wagon).
All international shipping 20ft containers in Australia are still 8'6", but most domestic containers like Toll, Linfox, SCF. Royal Wolf are 9'6 (25G1 type). Auscision are doing a lot of great Australian containers.
Always happy to help.
Cheers
Chris
Thanks for the info, question however was regarding the 10' long containers (15GB type), which are fairly uncommon in Europe for intermodal but mostly used on construction sites for storage.
DeleteI have some Auscision CQBY waggons but they wouldn't be able to hold a 10' long container as there are no fixations for containers that size.
I already placed quite some orders with Auscision this year as they announced a lot of nice stuff earlier. However, still missing some like 20' high cube Kent old and new, Pedemont or half-heights…
I should add that the 20ft Royal Wolf in this blog is 8'6" (22G1 type).
ReplyDeleteCheers
I know :) Already saved for reference. Same with the only 22G1 Kent I found on flickr, currently working on decals for that one.
DeleteG'day Matt,
ReplyDeleteThe 15GB containers are normally connected together for rail transport to make a 20ft container, as there would be no wagons capable of carrying a single 10ft container. If you look closely at some of the photos, you will see the two 15GBs connected with a steel pin/lock. I don't beleive I have seen any less than 9'6" in height.
I expect 9'6" (25G1) domestic containers to be released in model form in 2018, including Kent and Pedemont versions.
Cheers
Chris
